Abstract: Objective: To conduct a cross-cultural adaptation of the Person-Centered Practice Inventory-Staff (PCPI-S) scale, so as to use it in a comprehensive assessment of the quality of Person-Centered Care in elderly care practice in China. Methods: According to the guideline recommended by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, we conducted forward-translation, synthesis, back-translation, equivalence-evaluation of expert committee, and pilot testing. A questionnaire was distributed to 410 eligible staff of elderly care institutions from November 2022 to March 2023 via convenience sampling to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: The Chinese version of the PCPI-S had three subscales including prerequisites, care environment and care process, with 15 dimensions and 59 items. The content validity index was 0.915, and the cumulative variance contribution rates of the three subscales were 60.431%, 68.564%, and 73.298%, respectively. Cronbach's α coefficient for the total scale was 0.948, and the test-retest reliability was 0.952. Conclusion: The cross-culturally adapted PCPI-S scale has high reliability and validity. It can be used to evaluate the service quality of Person-Centered Care in elderly care institutions.
