Abstract: Objective: To translate the Immunosuppressant Therapy Barrier Scale (ITBS) into Chinese and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version. Methods: The ITBS was translated into Chinese following the translation-retranslation procedure and culturally adapted according to Chinese settings. The reliability and validity were tested in 181 kidney transplant recipients by convenience sampling from the outpatient department in a tertiary hospital in Changsha. Results: The Chinese version of ITBS consisted of 13 items. Three factors were extracted by factor analysis, which could explain 61.6% of the total variance. The loading of each item on the corresponding factors was higher than 0.4. The retest reliability and the Cronbach's α coefficient for the total scale were 0.870 and 0.849, respectively. Conclusion: The Chinese version of ITBS is with simple items and with good reliability and validity, which can be used as a tool for assessment of the immunosuppressant therapy barrier in patients with organ transplantation.
