Abstract: COMET model is a multidimensional, across-profession competence assessment model, which is theoretically based on New Vocationalism, Situational Learning Theory, Law of Vocational Development and Action Oriented Theory. There are three dimensions covered by COMET model, including requirement (competence level), content and action. Characterized in advanced theory basis, comparability among professions or regions, comprehensiveness in competence assessment and openness in method, COMET model distinguishes itself from traditional competence assessments. Since the application of COMET model in nursing has just begun, it is necessary to broaden the empirical research in the future.
