Abstract: Dementia refers to a group of syndromes with cognitive impairment as the main clinical manifestation caused by a variety of causes. With the help of devices and technologies, Medical Internet of Things plays an important role in the remote management of dementia patients. This paper reviews the applications and challenges of Medical Internet of Things in patients with dementia with higher risk of missing and falling, difficulty in medication management, unstable functional status or physiological parameters, and stronger needs for identification of early signs of illness and remote monitoring of abnormal mental behaviors. This review provides a reference for developing more appropriate Internet of Things devices to promote their application in the remote management for patients with dementia.
