Abstract: Objective: To systematically review and synthesize the experience of taking immunosuppressants in renal transplant recipients, and to provide evidence-based guidance for interventions to improve the medication taking experience and promote the medication taking behavior. Methods: Relational database were searched from inception to April 2022 for qualitative research studies on the experience of taking immunosuppressants in renal transplant recipients. The Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tool for qualitative research (2016) in Australia was used to evaluate the quality of studies, and the Meta-synthesis method was used to integrate the results. Results: A total of 17 studies were included, with 43 clear research findings grouped into 10 categories by their similarities, and 3 integrated findings were synthesized, including perceived benefit of taking medicine, perceived barriers of taking medicine, and coping strategies. Conclusion: Nurses should pay attention to the difficulties and obstacles faced by renal transplant recipients in taking immunosuppressants, timely evaluate whether the coping strategies are effective, and provide various professional supports for patients to improve their medication experience and promote their medication behavior.
