Construction of evaluation index system for home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses

Abstract: Objective: To construct the evaluation index system of home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses. Methods: Based on the iceberg theory, the first draft of the evaluation index system for home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses was developed through literature research and semi-structured interview. Under the guidance of the Delphi method, the research group conducted a letter consultation with 20 experts from 11 provinces in China from December 2021 to January 2022. The analytic hierarchy process was used to calculate the weight of the index system. Results: The effective recoveries of the two rounds of correspondence questionnaires were 100%. The expert authority coefficient was 0.95. After 2 rounds of consultation, the evaluation index system of home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses was formed, including 3 first-level indicators (knowledge and skills, comprehensive ability and personal traits), 12 second-level indicators and 47 third-level indicators. In the second round of consultation, The Kendall harmony coefficients of the first-level index, the second-level index and the third-level index were 0.289, 0.357 and 0.239, respectively (P<0.01). Conclusion: The evaluation index system of home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses is scientific, reliable and practical for the assessment and evaluation of home care competence of wound ostomy specialist nurses.
