Abstract: Objective: To review the length of neonatal urethral catheter insertion and provide a reference for clinical practice and related research. Methods: We followed the JBI scoping review methodology for this study. Websites and databases were searched to obtain literature on the length of neonatal urethral catheter insertion. Two researchers then screened the literature and extracted data independently using a standardized data extraction form. We performed descriptive analysis for the extracted data. Results: A total of 10 papers were included. "Urine outflow" was reported as a standard indicator for the length of catheter insertion in most literature; a few hospitals used a fixed length as the standard; some literature suggested that we should insert the catheter a further distance after the urine flows out. Conclusion: At present, there is no consensus on the length of neonatal urethral catheterization in the literature. Multi-center and large-sample studies are needed to establish the specification of neonatal urethral catheter insertion length.
