Birth trauma experiences in puerpera: a Meta-synthesis

Abstract: Objective: To systematically evaluate qualitative studies of birth trauma experiences in puerpera. Methods: We searched relevant databases to retrieve all eligible qualitative studies. A Meta-synthesis was conducted to synthesize the evidence. Results: A total of 18 literatures were included, 66 findings were integrated into 8 categories and finally 3 synthesized results were summarized: the causes and feelings of maternal birth trauma experiences; the negative effects of maternal birth trauma experiences; puerpera seek different strategies to cope with birth trauma. Conclusion: Birth trauma is a global phenomenon with far-reaching effects, which should be paid more attention to by the society, medical administrators, medical staff and families.
