Construction and application on the surgical specimen chain management scheme based on the link color block in the operating room

Abstract: Objective: To construct the surgical specimen chain management scheme based on the link color block in the operating room and analyze its clinical effects. Methods: A total of 9470 surgical specimens from the operating room were enrolled by convenience sampling from a tertiary grade A hospital in Hangzhou from January 2020 to December 2021. And 4470 surgical specimens from January to December 2020 were selected as the control group with routine specimens management, 5000 surgical specimens from January to December 2021 were selected as the intervention group with routine specimens management and chain management based on link color block. The qualification rate of the specimens and the satisfaction of surgeons and nurses were used to evaluate the effects of chain management scheme. Results: In experimental group, the correct rate of the placement, specimen containers, specimen fixative, placement method of routine pathological specimens and the qualification rate of total specimens were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The surgeons and nurses satisfaction of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The chain management scheme based on link color block can make the specimen management of the operating room specific and refined, which can significantly reduce the failure rate of specimen handling and improve the satisfaction of surgeons and nurses.
