Survey on the authentic experience of experiential learning from hospice care volunteers

Abstract: Objective: To explore the authentic experience of hospice volunteers in experiential teaching training. Methods: The qualitative method was used, semi-structured interviews were conducted with volunteers who participated in this training to understand their real experience in this training. Results: A total of nine volunteers who participated in the training were interviewed. Eight themes were extracted: tamping volunteer motivation, feeling of being in a hospice ward, comprehending the concept of hospice care, pondering independently in the scene, clearing the boundary of the interactions with the dying, feeling the care from the volunteer team, fit training scenarios to volunteer service, suggestions for this hospice experiential training. Conclusion: The application of experiential learning in hospice volunteers training has significant advantages. In the future training of hospice volunteers, experiential learning should be emphasized to help the development of the hospice volunteer teams.
