Abstract: Objective: To systematically review and synthesize the experience of Professional caregivers in order to provide evidence for improving the quality of dying and death of patients at the end of life. Methods: We searched the databases including PubMed, CINAHL Complete, PsycINFO, Embase, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang Data, and VIP to collect qualitative studies about experience of good death of professional caregivers, The JBI Critical Appraisal Tool for qualitative studies (2017 edition)was used to evaluate the quality of studies. Meta-synthesis was applied to integrate the results. Results: Totally 16 studies containing 88 findings were included. Then 16 new categories were generated and finally 4 synthesized results were obtained:patients receive whole-person care;patients and their families had preparation for death; appropriate care environment for death; multidisciplinary teams provide care. Conclusion: There are similarities and differences between eastern and western cultures in understanding a good death. Professional caregivers should fully assess the needs of end-stage patients and their families, and take targeted measures to help patients achieve a good death.
