Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of applying project management on reducing clinical nursing adverse events. Methods: In 2015-2016, project management methods were applied to improve the top three nursing adverse events in the hospital (pressure injury, falls and unplanned extubation). The annual assessment rate, accuracy rate and incidence rate of high-risk patients with pressure injury, falls and unplanned extubation were compared after the implementation of project management. Results: Since the implementation of project management, the assessment rate and accuracy rate of high-risk patients with nosocomial pressure injury, and unplanned extubation were increasing year by year, and the incidence rate of pressure injury, falls were decreasing year by year, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: The use of project management method can effectively reduce the incidence of nursing adverse events, reduce medical and nursing costs and improve work efficiency.

Key words: project management; pressure injury; fall; unplanned extubation
