The effect of cognitive behavior and mother-infant relationship therapy on perinatal depression patients

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of cognitive behavior and mother-infant relationship therapy on perinatal depression patients. Methods: Totally 148 perinatal depression patients were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group underwent "cognitive behavioral therapy" and "mother-to-child relationship therapy" interventions in late pregnancy and early postpartum. The control group received medical consultation and mental health guidance in midwifery clinic during the same period. Results: The cure rate of the experimental group (61.3%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (20.5%) (P<0.01). After intervention, the total score of PDSS scale and the score of its five domain factors in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of the WHOQOL-BREF scale in the areas of physiological, psychological and social relations were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The total score of social support scale and the score of subjective support and support utilization factor of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion: This cognitive behavior and mother-infant relationship therapy can effectively relieve depression symptoms in perinatal depression patients, improve their quality of life and social support.
