Abstract: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is an effective tool of nursing risk management used for improving patient safety and nursing quality. This article summarized the theories of root cause analysis as well as its implementations in nursing practice. The authors also suggested some ways to augment root cause analysis into a more robust and helpful process, in order to promote nursing quality and reduce risks.
