Abstract: Objective: To develop an expressive art therapy for elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia, in order to reduce their mental and behavioral symptoms and alleviate cognitive decline. Methods: Based on the preliminary study of the research group, the expressive art therapy for elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia was developed by focus group interview and literature review, the final intervention plan was revised through experts meeting. Results: Totally 10 experts were included, the expert authority coefficient was 0.89. The final expressive art therapy for elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia included plan content, process, and intervention elements. Conclusion: The expressive art therapy scheme is scientific, rigorous and targeted, suitable for elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia, which can provide a reference for non-pharmacological intervention for elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia.
