Abstract: Objective: To understand the current situation and problems of the centralized management mode in Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), so as to provide reference for promoting centralized management. Methods: A questionnaire survey using Wenjuanxing was conducted in 2625 hospitals with CSSD from 28 provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities) in 2021. Results: Among the 2621 CSSD that completed the effective questionnaire, 2132 (81.3%) had implemented the centralized management. Tertiary hospitals had the highest rate of centralized management (87.4%). Insufficient employees, equipment and area were the top three reasons restricting centralized management. The instrument with the lowest rate of centralized management was flexible endoscopy (27.1%), followed by oral instruments (69.3%). Conclusion: Changing concept, increasing investment of both manpower and equipments in CSSD and improving centralized management of instruments can further improve the implementation of centralized management.
