Abstract: The concept of Shared Decision-Making in healthcare is a patient-centered approach, wherein nurses play a vital role. However, varying cultural backgrounds significantly influence the implementation of Shared Decision-Making, with distinct medical ethics and legal disparities posing additional challenges. In the context of China's familialism tradition, achieving an ideal model of autonomous decision-making can be particularly challenging. Therefore, this paper proposes that future nursing research in China should focus more on cross-cultural adjustments within the Shared Decision-Making process and emphasize the involvement and impact of nurses. It suggests to find a cultural balance to develop a multi-faceted Shared Decision-Making model and tools that are suitable for Chinese contexts.
