Mediating role of team conflict between cultural intelligence and nurses' team cooperation

Abstract: Objective: To explore the influence of cultural intelligence on nursing team cooperation, to provide a reference for clinical nursing managers to manage nurse team cooperation. Methods: Based on the Input-Process-Output model, a theoretical model of cultural intelligence-team conflict-nursing teamwork is established. The cultural intelligence level, team conflict, and team cooperation ability of 775 nurses were investigated by convenience sampling in five tertiary grade A hospitals. Results: Cultural intelligence had a direct effect on nursing teamwork, accounting for 52.81%. Cultural intelligence affected nursing teamwork through task conflict, and the mediating effect of task conflict accounted for 38.92%. Cultural intelligence affected nursing teamwork through relationship conflict, and the mediating effect of relationship conflict accounted for 6.33%. Conclusion: Nursing managers need to pay attention to and cultivate the cultural intelligence of nurses, and to improve the performance of nursing team cooperation.
