Patients' in-hospital transport practice in fever clinics and isolation wards in hospital during COVID-19

Abstract: Objective: To explore a protection and management strategy of transferring patients with COVID-19 in fever clinic and isolation ward , hopefully to provide an effective and safe way for other medical institutions in transferring patients with COVID-19. Methods: On the basis of the establishment of the transfer management system with specific management goals, a transfer team was set up, who then formulated relevant transferring processes and carried out training and checkup work. Besides, specialized examining devices and examination channels were also added as well as dynamically monitoring and adjusting of human resources to supervise and ensure the successful transferring of patients with COVID-19. Results: Up to April 14th, 3718 patients with fever have been accompanied to do tests and see doctors by staffs from the department of central transportation, 322 patients with or suspected with COVID-19 have been transferred to inpatient department, and 198 patients with or suspected with COVID-19 from the isolation area have been transferred to do tests. Throughout the working process, none of the transferring staffs has been infected by patients with or suspected with COVID-19. Conclusion: It is a safe and effective way to transfer patients with or suspected with COVID-19 in hospital and can improve the protection ability of staffs doing transfer work by establishing the transfer management system, setting scientific transfer process, and strengthen protection measures.
