Abstract: Objective: To investigate the caring efficacy and its influencing factors among ICU nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a teriary Grade A hosptial in Beijing and 110 ICU nurses were investigated using a questionnaire. Results: The level of caring efficacy among ICU nurses was relatively low and was influenced by personal attitude towards human caring and ICU specialist qualification. The ICU nurses considered that nurse-patient relationship and intensive care workload were the main obstacles to delivering human caring. Conclusion: Several measures can be taken to improve the human caring level in Intensive Care Unit, including improving nurse-patient relationship, training ICU specialist nurses, reducing the workload of ICU nurses, and estabishing the woking flow of humanistic care in ICU.
