Abstract: Self-management intervention is an effective way to slow down disease progression, control symptoms,and improve quality of life among COPD patients. Although self-management has been widely applied in clinical practice,some nurses still have some misunderstandings. This article identified the concept of self-management, reviewed the literature on self-management, recommended intervention measures to improve patients' self-management: medical management, life-role management and emotional management. This article also indicated weaknesses of presenting selfmanagement interventions in China, with the purpose to enhance nurses' perception and improve patients' prognosis and quality of life.
