Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of SPD Model on medical materials management in clinical units or at ward level in hospital. Methods: We utilized the self-designed questionnaires to examine 14 clinical nursing units and wards before and after applying the SPD Model to manage medical materials. Results: The frequency of applying medical materials from the clinical units significantly decreased under the SPD Model. Also, the inventory control of medical materials apparently reduced in days. The time on clearing up medical storage was significantly shorter than it before the model. Less time was spent on listing and recording medical supplies. Conclusion: The SPD model could effectively promote medical materials management in clinical units and wards in hospital.
