Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of Training of Trainers(TOT) to the quality of intravenous therapy. Methods: We used TOT training model in the intravenous therapy management. The evaluation indexes were the related theoretical knowledge and skills examination pass rates and comprehensive management ability before and after TOT training. Results: Theoretical examination pass rate of intravenous trainer after training increased from 70.3% to 92.9%. The skill examination pass rate increased from 90.8% to 98.9%. The first time success rate of venous puncture was improved from 95.9% to 97.9%. The scalp steel utilization rate fell from 57.3% to 49.2%. The Peripheral venous short catheter utilization rate increased from 36.0% to 42.5%. The PICC utilization rate increase from 4.1% to 5.2%. The venous complications dropped from 12.2% to 6.3% after the training. All the above index differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: TOT training model could cultivate excellent intravenous therapy trainers for the hospital and improve the intravenous therapy level of the whole hospital.
