The evaluation of dietary restriction among oropharyngeal cancer patients

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the current status of dietary restriction among oropharyngeal cancer patients and to evaluate its influencing factors. Methods: Totally 136 patients were recruited and investigated by the related questions, such as tumor location, TNM stage, type of treatment, and complications. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of diatary restriction. Results: Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the tumor volume was closely related to dietary restriction (OR=1.67,P=0.02).Meanwhile, surgical operation (OR=4.41) and radiation therapy (OR=2.33) were also associated with the dietary restriction among oropharyngeal cancer patients. Furthermore, the pain when eating food were also an influencing factor (OR=2.02). Conclusion: We should take effective measures to take care of the patients according to the influencing facotors of dietary restriction.
