Abstract: Objective: To investigate the status of complications in patients with PICC secondary catheterization and analyze the influencing factors, so as to provide a reference for the prevention of catheter-related complications. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to select 348 patients who underwent PICC secondary catheterization in a tertiary grade A hospital in Beijing from August 2021 to March 2024. Patient general information, the catheter related information and complications during indwelling were collected. The influencing factors of catheter-related complications were analyzed by binary Logistic regression. Results: Totally 98 patients (28.2%) with PICC secondary catheterization developed complications during the indwelling of the catheter. Regression results showed that type of PICC, placement of PICC during the indwelling of central venous catheter, smoke were the influencing factors of complications. Conclusion: The incidence of catheter-related complications in patients with PICC secondary catheterization is high. Clinical staff should pay more attention to this group of patients, fully assess the basic situation before catheterization, select appropriate PICC catheters, strengthen maintenance and health education after catheterization.
