Abstract: Delirium is common in elderly patients which could result in poor prognosis and clinical consequences. This article illustrates the definition, clinical manifestations and causes of delirium in elderly people, and reviews the literatures related to the delirium assessment, prevention and intervention. It is expected to provide guidance to the nursing management of delirium in elderly people in China.
