Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of health education based on Health Promotion Model among women with overactive bladder. Methods: Totally 173 women with overactive bladder in our hospital were recruited from Jan. 1, 2015 to Jun. 30, 2015, and were randomly divided into the study group (n=87) and the control group (n=86). Health Promotion Lifestyle Questionnaire (HPLP), Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS) and King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ)were used to investigate patients at admission and 3 months after discharge. Results: After 3 months' intervention, the scores of health responsibility, stress coping, exercise, self-fulfillment in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). OABSS scores before and after the intervention was (7.82±3.23) points and(3.10±2.24) points, and the difference was statistically significant (t=11.268, P<0.001). After the intervention, voiding symptoms in KHQ severity rating scale, restricted movement, restricted social behavior, symptom response, and all dimensions of KHQ scores were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Health education based on Health Promotion Model could effectively establish healthy behavior, improve patient symptoms and health status.
