Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of mind mapping on preoperative preparation among elective patients in otolaryngology department. Methods: Totally 442 patients were divided into the control group (215 cases) and the observation group (227 cases). The control group was prepared routinely, while the mind mapping was used in observation group for preoperative preparation. The preoperative nursing quality, related knowledge level among preoperative patients and doctors' satisfaction to nursing work was compared between the two groups. Results: Compared with the control group, the defect and delay rate of the observation group for preoperative preparation decreased significantly. The related knowledge level of preoperative patients and doctors' satisfaction to nursing of observation group was higher than those of control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Applying mind mapping could improve the quality of preoperative preparation, guarantee the timeliness of operation and improve the doctors' satisfaction to nursing work.
