Abstract: Objective: To explore the influence of individualized health education on self-management behavior and glycemic control for patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods: Eighty patients with type 2 diabetes who had built archives in diabetes clinic were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=40) and the control group (n=40). Normal nursing interventions were given to the two groups, meanwhile the individualized health education was given to the intervention group. Self-management behavior,fasting blood-glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin were used to assess the effect of health education in two groups. Result: Ten months after intervention, the scores of the intervention group on self-management behavior were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The scores of the intervention of fasting blood-glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin were lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The individualized health education can improve the self-management behavior,glycemic control and the quality of life amog patients with type 2 diabetes.
