Abstract: Objective: To investigate the relationship between self-management skills and quality of life among communitydwelling patients with hypertension. Methods: Totally 212 cases of community-dwelling patients were measured with selfdesigned Self-management Skills of Hypertension Scale and Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). The t-test and Pearson's correlation were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean score for self-management skills was 77.22±8.52, and the mean score for SF-36 was 73.39±14.14. The total score of SF-36 in patients with good self-management skills was higher than those with poor self-management skills. Conclusion: The overall level of self-management and quality of life among community-dwelling hypertension patients in Chengdu were in moderate level, which was suboptimal.
