Abstract: The idleness of Central Venous Catheters (CVC) is easily overlooked in clinical practice. This article clarifies the concept of CVC idleness through searching, organizing, analyzing, and summarizing domestic and international literature related to idleness of CVC and discusses four influencing factors: patient characteristics and preferences, treatment regimens, healthcare personnel, and management systems. Furthermore, it proposes countermeasures and research directions, providing a reference for the standardized management of CVC, thereby reducing the catheter-related complications to ensure patient safety.
