Clinical practice of multidisciplinary goal-based management to reduce the incidence of postoperative aspiration in patients with brain tumors

Abstract: Objective: To implement the goal-based management plan of multidisciplinary cooperation, and to provide reference for nurses to reduce the incidence of postoperative aspiration in patients with brain tumors. Methods: A goal-based management plan was applied in patients received brain tumor resection in a tertiary grade A specialist hospital from April to September 2022, including formulating improvement goals, plans, implementation and quality evaluation, and adjusting actions based on evaluation results with a duration of 6 months. Completion rate of measures and aspiration rate were collected. Results: The target was achieved at the end of the project, the incidence of aspiration was significantly reduced compared with the baseline (P<0.05), and the completion rate of 3 measures in the process was ≥95%, and the completion rate of 1 measure was≥90%. Conclusion: The implementation of multidisciplinary goal-based management plan can effectively reduce the incidence of aspiration in patients with brain tumors and promote the nursing quality.
