Abstract: Objective: To explore the feasibility of palliative care applied in the emergency department of a tertiary hospital. A total of 64 emergency hospice patients from January 2020 to May 2021 were recruited according to the standards of emergency hospice care. The emergency hospice care service program was developed including acute symptom control, comfort care, psychological care, family support and grief counseling. The satisfaction degree and the degree of needs meeting were evaluated. Results: The needs of pain management, dyspnea symptom control and psychological support ranked the highest. The average score of emergency hospice patient satisfaction was 99.23 points and the average score of patient’s family satisfaction rate was 99.85 points, both higher than average score of Emergency Department satisfaction (96.41 points). Conclusion: The implementation of emergency hospice care alleviates the physical and mental pain of patients, improves the quality of life of patients, optimizes the critical rescue resources, and increases the experience for the development of emergency hospice care.
