Abstract: Objective: The attitude and suggestions of hospital nurses to nursing quality supervision were analyzed in order to provide reference and basis for clinical development of reasonable nursing supervision mode and construction of scientific nursing quality evaluation system. Methods: The phenomenological research method was applied. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 14 nurses in a tertiary hospital in Changsha from March to May 2021. Data were analyzed using the Colaizzi's 7-step analysis method. Results: Nurses' attitudes toward nursing quality supervision were summarized into 2 themes: recognition of the importance of quality supervision and idealized supervision standards. Nurses' suggestions on nursing quality supervision were reflected by 4 themes: inspectors should be professional, objective and fair; supervision should be diversified; the results of supervision should give feedback on time and guide for improvement; humanistic care should be integrated into the supervision process. Conclusion: Nurses recognized the importance of nursing quality supervision. They also agreed that some supervision criteria were too idealistic. Supervisors should improve their own ability, provide timely feedback on supervision results and offer humanistic supervision. Moreover, nursing managers should develop supervision evaluation indexes in accordance with the clinical reality.
