Abstract: Objective: To explore the effects of systematic stress management programme on job stress and burnout of ICU nurses in Cardiac Surgery department. Methods: A total of 50 ICU nurses in cardiac surgery department were selected by cluster sampling, the systematic stress management program was lasted for 8 weeks, and the Chinese version of nurse job stressor questionnaire and the Chinese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were used to assess the nurses, job stress and burnout before and after the intervention respectively. Results: The level of job stress and burnout was decreased significantly after 8-week intervention (P<0.01 for both). Conclusion: The systematic stress management is benefit to relieve the job stress and reduce the burnout of ICU nurses in Cardiac Surgery department.
