Abstract: Objective: To establish a secondary storeroom management system for medical low-value consumables overflow warehouse, and to evaluate its application effect. Methods: We analyzed the status and causes of overflow of medical low-value consumables and set up standardized secondary storeroom management system and compare the overflow rate. Results: After the secondary storeroom management of the medical low-value consumables, the overflow rate of insulin syringes, 5 mL syringes, 20 mL syringes and blood glucose test strips decreased significantly. The absolute values of 1 mL syringes, 2 mL syringes, 10 mL syringes, insulin needles, precision infusion sets, blood gas suits, insulin pump consumables, transparent dressing, and disposable nasal catheterization were all decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The secondary storeroom management of the medical low-value consumables overflow warehouse could effectively save medical resources, improve the management quality of the consumables of the departments, and reduce the burden of medical expenses.
