Abstract: Objective: To describe the nursing station operating mode and problems. Methods: On-site inspection and self-designed questionnaire survey were conducted on 12 nursing stations in a district of Shanghai. Results: Nursing station is the important support of home-based care services for aged. Problems include lack of educations and workforce, non-standard health care skills, limited nursing items in Long-term Care. Nursing station managers, registered nurses and care workers need professional training. Conclusions: The future of nursing station includes more professional human resources, and the establishment of quality management and evaluation standard, so as to meet the needs of the community and residential care.
