Abstract: Objective: To investigate the status of care preparedness by family caregivers of stroke patient, to explore factors associated with preparedness, and provide evidence for effective health education for caregivers of stroke patients. Methods: A total of 200 family caregivers of stroke patients were investigated with the Care Preparedness Scale and Warning Symptom Questionnaire. Results: The score of CPS among family caregivers was 13.99±4.95. The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that caregivers' cognitive level of warning symptoms, age, education level, care experience, the number of other caregivers and patient gender were main factors influencing the degree of care preparedness. Conclusion: This study manifests that CPS among family caregivers remains to be improved. As a result, healthcare worker should provide individualized intervention according to certain situation of the caregivers and the patient, so as to improve caregivers' preparedness.
