Abstract: Objective: To translate the Child Vulnerability Scale and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version in parents of children with congenital heart disease. Method: The Chinese version of Child Vulnerability Scale (CVS) was developed through the process of translation, back-translation and cross-cultural adaptation. A convenient sample of 120 parents of children with congenital heart disease was investigated using CVS to test the reliability and validity. Results: The scale content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.90, and the item content validity index (I-CVI) ranged from 0.8 to 1.0. Two common factors were extracted using exploratory factor analysis, which can explain 54.769% of the total variation. The factor loading ranged from 0.622 to 0.801. The internal consistency coefficient of the CVS was 0.791. The test-retest reliability of CVS was 0.895. Conclusion: The CVS has been proved to be reliable and valid. It can be used as a valid tool for measurement of perceived vulnerability among parents of children with congenital heart disease.
