Abstract: Objective: To discuss factors related to self-efficacy for social participation of individuals with mental illness. Methods: Using convenience sampling, a total of 117 people with mental illness were recruited from the outpatient department in a psychiatric hospital. All participants completed an anonymous self-report questionnaire that assessed selfefficacy for social participation, self-esteem, general mental health, social support, and life satisfaction. Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that general health, life satisfaction with community, life skills are the major factors influencing the self-efficacy for social participation of people with mental illness. Conclusions: It was implicated that we can promote social participate efficacy of people with mental illness from individual, family & community, and social & cultural dimensions.
