Abstract: Objective: To explore the preliminary construction of nursing care safety index based on the process of dental treatment. Methods: Through literature review and experts' group discussion, the authors designed the preliminary construction of nursing care safety quality index. Then Delphi method was used to revise the indicators. Results: After two rounds of Delphi procedure, the opinion of the experts became consistent. Questionnaire collecting rates of the two rounds were both 100%, and cooperation index were 0.237 and 0.258 respectively (P<0.01). Five quality indicators were confirmed, including health education rate, implementation rate of protective measures, incidence of oral soft tissue injuries, incidence of ingestion/aspiration, and incidence of fall/dropping from chair. Conclusion: The nursing care safety quality index in dental clinic was scientific, reliable, and feasible, which could provide basis for improvement of nursing safety in dental clinic.
