Abstract: The depth of catheter insertion would affect the effectiveness of suctioning among patients with artificial airway. Currently, there is no regulation about the depth of catheter insertion when nurses perform the suctioning. To provide evidence for clinical nurses, this paper has reviewed the different depths of catheter insertion as well as their effectiveness,safety, and measuring methods.
