Abstract: The article reviewed the development process, education and training mechanisms, and organization structure of Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) and compared the contents of CTAS guidelines and its revisions.We found that CTAS had clear organizational structure and had been standardized, informationalized, and institutionalized. The development process of CTAS enlightens the development of emergency triage system in China that there is an urgent demand to establish a standardized,and informative triage and acuity scale with Chinese characteristics to improve education and training structure and training mechanisms.
