Abstract: This paper systematically introduces the evidence grading systems in the world, the concept of Evidencebased Medicine and proposal for evidence grading and strength recommendations in development of clinical practice guidelines of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The paper also discusses the issues and challenges in regarding to characteristics and current status of clinical research in TCM, and to provide the referential basis in developing the clinical practical guidance for TCM.
