Abstract: In this review, we have thoroughly described the concept of nursing identity, professional identity levels of nurses worldwide and its importance in clinical nursing. Moreover, there has been a detailed review and summary of measurement tools,influential factors and latest strategies on professional identity development, which might provide the theoretical basis for the Chinese nursing identity studies.
