Abstract: This article reviews the development of oncology nurses' role, training, education, practice and service provision in Hong Kong, highlighting the development and transformation of oncology specialty over the past more than two decades; reflecting the importance of the contribution made by oncology nurses in cancer control and the quality of cancer care; suggesting the directions and roles crucial for the future development of nursing practice that require continuous efforts from the clinical, academic and professional bodies to meet this goal.
