Abstract: Objective: To implement Hospital Information System (HIS) based on HIMSS EMRAM 7 (level 7 of Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model, from Hospital Information and Management System Society) in nursing care of patients undergoing operation. Methods: The information system was developed around the process of surgical patients' information sharing, handover, medication, blood transfusion, pathological specimen handover, sterilization package trace ability, medical waste management and others. Results: The application of the new HIS system realized the high sharing of surgical and nursing information, achieved paperless and seamless process management, improved patient safety and reduced the operating cost of departments. Conclusion: The application of operating room HIS under HIMSS EMRAM 7 evaluation standard can improve the level of patients' safety and care quality management, reduce cost input and improve work efficiency.
