Abstract: This paper makes a retrospective analysis of the United States emergency medicine through the background of emergency management of USA during the past half century, to find the path of the emergency medicine about its establishment, development and change, to clarify the complicated relationship between emergency medicine with adjacent subjects and secondary subjects, and to provide some advices to the development of pre-hospital and disaster medicine in China.
