Abstract: Early Warning Score system (EWSs) is one of the most efficient nursing management tool for early warning. It could rapidly identify potentially critical patients and guide the medical staffs to take intervention. It has gradually applied to the newborn from adult patients and plays a positive role. Newborns are a special group of clinical patients, their quality of care has always been the attention of the society. This paper reviews the application status and development of EWSs in neonatal clinical care, thus to provide reference for enhancing the management of newborn safety and improve the quality of newborn care.
