Abstract: Objective: To explore the coping experiences of parents of preterm infants undergoing home oxygen therapy, aiming to provide a reference for the development of related intervention strategies. Methods: A descriptive qualitative research method was employed, with semi-structured interviews conducted from February to April 2025 with 15 parents of premature infants requiring home oxygen therapy from a tertiary grade A hospital's neonatal intensive care unit in Jinan. Directed content analysis was used for summarizing and extracting themes. Results: Three themes were identified: understanding home oxygen therapy; challenges and adjustments in managing home oxygen therapy; interpretation of the meaning of home oxygen therapy. Conclusion: Effective coping resources aid parents of premature infants in facing multiple challenges associated with home oxygen therapy. Healthcare professionals should enhance education on oxygen therapy-related knowledge to help parents establish accurate cognition, explore positive coping resources, so as to improve the quality and safety of home oxygen therapy.
